Destiny 2Rasputin Chamber Puzzle’s Alternative Reality Game (ARG) was discovered in 2018, and part of it baffled players so much that they had to brutally force the solution, solving the puzzle in just a few days but without any fully understand all the parts. That is to say until last week.
The puzzle was introduced in Destiny 2‘s Warmind expansion and required players to find a series of codes that could be used to decode a message. There were six digits in all, but the third which pertained to a series of diamond clues in the bunker was never quite understood. Instead, players simply performed a crypto scan reverse the sentence after finding the rest of the clues. They were then able to decode the special message resulting in a set of coordinates leading players to a real world cache hidden in the woods containing a lance and Warmind parts.
As IGN spotted last friday, players Javano and Bachmanetti finally restored the “MECHANIZED” encryption the right way. Players have long speculated that the diamond clues for the number could be connected to a weapon, and Javano already had a hunch that the weapon must be Sleeper Simulant, the popular exotic fusion rifle added to Warmind. It didn’t take long for Javano and Bachmanetti to realize that the Simulant Reticle perfectly matches the shape of the diamond.
“Wait, I have an idea,” Bachmanetti wrote in the chat. “Someone must have tried it.” They got into the game and two minutes later reported. “Resolved,” they wrote. “I’m not kidding either.”
Sleeper Simulant’s reticle, in addition to being diamond-shaped, has a series of dashes to the left and right. When the player looks at the Clovis Bay warning sign, these dashes end up underlining a series of letters that form the cipher phrase “MECHANIZED”.
While the treasure to which it ultimately led is long gone, successfully solving a piece of one of the Destiny 2The most complicated puzzles years after the fact are to be regarded as some kind of special reward.
