how to say goodbye takes a poetic, hopeful and comforting look at the subject of bereavement.
French publisher and co-producer Arte, in collaboration with two incredible artists from the video game world, Florian Veltman and Baptiste Portefaix, today unveiled their new upcoming game, how to say goodbye. In an aesthetically stunning narrative puzzle game, players will explore the concept of grief and loss.
It’s time to move on, mate
Inspired by the golden age of children’s literature and picture books (such as Tove Jansson’s Moomins, Antoine Saint-Exupéry Little Prince, and Maurice Sendak where the wild things are), how to say goodbye deals with the issue of bereavement with love and empathy.
The game tells the story of a character who has recently been turned into a ghost and is now trapped in an unknown realm populated by ghosts. Players in this narrative puzzle game must help the protagonists escape from the region of transition between life and death in which they are confined.
To do this, the player can rearrange the elements of the scenery on a grid to direct the ghosts towards the exit, which is represented by a door. The spirits of the game, still reeling from their recent death, are doing everything they can to get out of the limbo they are stuck in. They will have to learn to mourn together to accept their own death and move on.
how to say goodbye will be released on PC via To smoke in 2022.
