A Memory Maze is an award-winning minimal puzzle game that is finally available on the Play Store

G30 – A maze of memory. A story to remember

G30 – A Memory Maze is a puzzle game about what we remember and what we have forgotten forever. It’s the story of a person with dementia, who tries to reminisce about the elusive past – before illness took over and everything faded away. Each level sparks a small memory of that person’s life. By solving puzzles, you piece together images of events, as well as thoughts and feelings – and discover how a person with mental illness sees the world and how society responds.

In G30, each level is a two-part puzzle: a visual image from memory and telescoping text, which reveals itself with every step. You start with fragmented pieces of the image attached to dotted lines. By dragging them like chains, you move parts of the image to restore it. In turn, the telescopic text reacts to your every step – the closer you are to the solution, the more the text unfolds. You do indeed remember – adding details to memory and forming a clear picture.

The main themes of the game are human memory and consciousness. Our lives are full of people, events, thoughts and feelings. Some just pass and you won’t remember them in a day. And some are so dear and meaningful that you’ll keep them until the end. But there are people around us who lose their ability to remember – certain types of mental illness do that to a person. Imagine that you cannot recognize your loved ones, cannot remember the most important events in your life, and do not even know who you are. People with dementia live their lives like this. G30 shows how they see the world, how they feel about the past they can’t remember and the reality they can’t acknowledge.

G30 – A Memory Maze is a solo development by Ivan Kovalov from kyiv, Ukraine – this is his first game.

What makes G30 – A Memory Maze special:

● Telescopic text – each step of a puzzle changes the direction of the story. It represents a transformation of memories as we add new details to them.

● Unique puzzles that are deeply tied to the story – wrapped in a sleek flat design.

● The game shows how a person with mental illness views reality. We see the world moving away from the main character whose personality and memory will soon fade along with the reason for his existence.

● It’s a classic indie story. Ivan does everything solo – game design, coding, art, music. A former graphic designer and musician, Ivan had to sell his precious guitars to complete the G30.

G30 – A Memory Maze is available now on iOS and is coming to Android on February 7, 2019.
